During this tough global economic struggle, as a student I realize how hard it can be to find a job no matter what country you are in. These days, having a degree just doesn´t cut it, you need something else to help you stand out from the gigantic crowd. There is the typical option of travelling the world, backpacking around Asia or South America has most probably reached its peak and I reckon most of those visitors were students. Maybe you want that something extra, if you teach English overseas you may find exactly what you´re looking for in your travel abroad adventure. As a keen traveler myself, I have found that in the various countries I have visited teaching English is in high demand.

Teaching English as foreign language has a wide range of benefits, you gain an internationally recognized qualification, and you get to meet new people, experience a new culture and of course be the boss of the students! Teaching English in England itself can be very possible, given that it´s a highly diverse country filled with many people from around the globe, there are schools which need native English speakers to help them teach others.

Although, if you are the more adventurous type, the world is at your feet, when you have a teaching qualification to keep you on your toes. You can be there for as long as you want, it can be a rewarding experience and what´s even better is you can make friends from all around the world along the way.

There are many lessons to be learnt when you are in a new country, being completely surrounded by a new culture and language is one of the best ways for you to develop as a person. Not only that, but while you are there, because you won´t be working 24/7 you have time to travel and explore. This can be one of the best ways to test just how adventurous you are.

If you are teaching in a non-English speaking country, learning the local language, even the basics will help you while you´re there. Something as simple as using the local transport can be an interesting experience and it´s one of the best ways to mix in with the locals. Try exploring the history of the country and understand the ways of the society. This can help you while you teach, understanding where you are living can help you to connect to the students on a greater level.

Some tips for making the most of your travels:
