Summer in Sydney is like nothing else. The weather is absolutely stunning for months on end and there are so many things to do and see. This city has so much diversity from the beaches, to yummy little cafes and some pretty impressive structures sprinkled around. There are so many favourites, yet we’ll try to keep it simple and narrow it down to our top six!

Visit A Beer Garden

Sydney’s best known for their beer gardens and what’s a summer in Sydney without an ice-cold beer?

With some pretty amazing weather year round, Sydney takes advantage of it with some beautiful beer gardens.. No matter what you fancy, Sydney’s got you covered with their excellent selection of beer gardens; Some of the best include The Gallon, The Sheaf & THE Beresford Hotel. Head down with some mates on a sunny afternoon and find out what the Sunday Session is all about.

Visit a Theatre and catch a musical

Whether you’re a tourist or not, the Sydney Opera House is iconic and has been known to be graced with the best musicals. No matter when you visit during the summer months, there’s sure to be a great musical on! Take a moment to get fancy and fully immerse yourself in the musical culture.

However, if the Sydney Opera House is too intimidating or fancy and you’d prefer something more low-key, there are many other excellent theatres that can be found all throughout Sydney. The State Theatre—which has gained the title of the ‘Palace of Dreams’, Sydney Lyric Theatre and Capitol Theatre are also well known for showcasing amazing musicals as well.

Whether you’re a long-running fan of the arts or whether it’s your first time, visit a theatre in Sydney this summer, and get in touch with the musical culture!

Sydney Harbour

The Sydney Harbour is known as one of the most alluring natural harbours in the world. From the harbor, you can jump on many different types of cruises. You can hire a boat and explore the Sydney Harbour independently or just catch a ferry. The ferry is one of the our highest recommendations. There are many places you can explore via ferry — from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo; you’ll even be able to witness the Sydney Opera House as well as the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the way.

However, if you’re not great with vast bodies of open water, walking around the Sydney Harbour is just as amazing, if not better! Walking will provide you with the chance to enjoy the wonderful scenery and give you the opportunity to experience the great wildlife!

The Harbour is also a great place to enjoy the Sydney New Year’s Eve fireworks display during the summer.

A Classic Aussie Backyard Barbie at Bondi

Sometimes it’s just the simple stuff that makes a great Aussie summer, and Sydney’s no exception. Whether you’re a local or a traveller, having a classic barbie at Bondi is what summer’s all about.

There are only a few remaining spots to set up a true Aussie BBQ in Bondi. If you head down the northern end of the beach there is a grassy knoll, where you can fire up coin operated gas barbecues.

You will find a huge congregation of locals here every Saturday and Sunday and, well, pretty much most other sunsets to eat, drink and mingle. It’s a good chance to integrate yourself as a cheery local and get some insider knowledge. You might find that it does turn into a pretty heavy drinking session. Taking this into account, make sure you always have your wits about you when lighting up a gas barbecue in the park. Ensure you are vigilant with gas grill safety, the last thing you want is to cut your trip down under short!

Visit the beaches

The positives of exploring walking trails around Sydney Harbour? Finding the best beaches and walking tracks.

Secret Beaches are the hidden gems that Sydney is extremely proud of! Some of the best ones to discover on a walk are Milk Beach, Collins Flat Beach, Chinamans Beach, Cong Wong Beach and Wattamolla Beach. Secret beaches are known for their breathtaking scenery and incredibly soft sand!

However, a beach doesn’t have to be a secret for it to be awesome. If discovering a secret beach isn’t really your style, don’t worry, there’s always the iconic Bondi Beach! Make sure to check it out—learn to surf or just have a good time and create unforgettable memories! What an amazing way to enjoy Summer in Sydney!Summer in Sydney Manly Beach

Attend a festival

Speaking of fireworks, Sydney’s best festivals make their appearance during summer and the Sydney New Year’s Eve Fireworks is just one of the many! During the summer, the Sydney Festival – Sydney’s largest art festival – and the Chinese New Year Festivities also take place. The CNY Festivities also include dragon boat races as well as lion dance performances. You definitely do not want to miss this one!

Of course, we also can’t forget that The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival also takes place during the summer months, so come join it and support LGBTQs everywhere! You might think you’re in Rio for carnival, some of the floats and outfits are absolutely amazing.

Summer in Sydney truly is an exciting time to visit this amazing city.
