Congratulations, you’ve cleared your first hurdle on the shaky path to the fifth date, tenth date or a yearlong anniversary – if you’re in it for keeps, that is. Before you hit the movies, the soda stand or the latest midnight hotspot, rethink your tactics. What do all of those places say about you? Fun? Sure. Thirsty? Yes. Dance savvy? Maybe. But do they really allow you to get to know the person beside you, beyond a stolen kiss (or ten) and perfunctory conversation? Not really. Test their mettle with a theme park first date and be prepared for a surprise, a dare or a challenge to your own pride, as the metal clanking of a monstrous coaster looms overhead. Park magic isn’t just for little kids! Don’t we all need a little mysticism in our lives? Spellbind your beloved with the following theme parks and start planning the second date!

Table of Contents

Australia – Wet n Wild

Water? Check.
Ridiculous fun? Check.
Scary slides? Check.
Think of Wet n Wild as a watery litmus test. Girls, if he hangs out with you (and your bathing suit) without going for the grope or having a cleavage conversation, he’s probably worth the second date. Guys, if she can hang out with you dressed only in a bathing suit, bonus points for you, I guess. This will test conversational skills on both sides, as certain situations demands one to laugh at self-deprecatingly; there is nothing more embarrassing then losing your bikini top mid-ride! Don’t worry, that barely ever happens.
Recommended Ride: Kamikaze Drop.

United States – Cedar Point

Though Cedar Point attracts a multitude of families, this King of Rollercoasters is the supreme stop for freshly minted couples. The Park maintains a legendary status among Americans, attracting far-flung enthusiasts and local families; be prepared for long lines and lots of time to talk, as Cedar Point is packed out from sunset to sunrise, but well worth the hassle. Sit down together in the morning over a coffee and sort out a basic itinerary; ride preferences reveal a lot about a person and you’ll soon discover if he or she is willing to compromise or try something new every now and then.
Recommended Ride: The Gatekeeper

United Kingdom – Alton Towers

If you’d like to get inside your dates head quick smart, hop on down to Alton Towers, a charming theme park offering punters over fifty rides to twist and turn about on, ranging from the mind bending Smiler (though you won’t be smiling after 14 almost successive loops and kits set to further disorientate you), classics like the Enterprise and exhilarating experiments like Air or Thirteen. Popular with the residents of Staffordshire and surrounding areas, Alton Towers is gaining traction as the theme park underdog of England.
Recommended Ride: Hang out together – literally, on the scary Submission ride.

Ah, young love, is there anything else so insurmountable? Of course there is! Let the nerves fall away as the clack-clack-clack of a rollercoaster belt drags you to the top. Will you be holding their hand at the bottom?
